This “ICU” was created in the hotel basement in Gostomel during the Battle for Kyiv.
This room was a shelter, bedroom, dining room, and stabilization point. To make the basement an open space doctors removed walls between separate rooms. Due to the lack of supplies, different materials were used to prepare the room for providing medical care, for example, intravenous fluid bags were fixed with pipes to the ceiling.
キエフにおける戦闘では、Gostomelのホテルの地下にICUが作られた。この部屋は、避難所であり、寝室であり、食堂であり、処置室でもあった。地下室を開放的な空間にするため、医師たちは別々の部屋の間の壁を取り除いた。物資が不足していたため、処置室とするために通常とは異なるさまざまな材料が使われた。たとえば、点滴用の輸液バッグは天井のパイプからつるされていた。
（注）病院ではない場所にICU等の病院設備が作られるようになっている。前線のある病院では、病院と明示したうえで赤十字を掲げていたが、ビルでは執拗な攻撃を受け地上の構築物が完全に破壊されてしまった。赤十字を掲げたり、病院であることを明示しなくなったのはそういう理由もある。このビルも、どこにあるかを明かすことはできない。攻撃ターゲットになってしまう可能性がある。このため、本写真展においても場所を特定できないよう細心の注意が払われたうえで選ばれている。
